The Atlantic Spice Company

Last week we went on an adventure to Cape Cod for my birthday.  I loved every minute of it and I have so many wonderful memories.  One of the places that I went I couldn't wait to share with all of you.  We had a recommendation to visit the Atlantic Spice Company and they did not disappoint! It was well worth the extra drive that we took to get there!

I was excited to see what they had for spices.  I was hoping they would have some tea as many of you know it's one of my favorite things to drink.  They did not disappoint!! They have an entire wall of tea.  I have never seen so much tea in one place.  The thing that I love is they have bulk herbal tea at wholesale prices.  The prices are significantly better than any place I have ever seen and the tea is so good!!

This is what we bought! I have a really great example of what they had there in this picture.  Many of you are familiar with Chamomile and Chamomile tea. If you purchase tea bags in the store when was the last time you saw it with whole flowers? On the bottom left of the picture is the bag of Chamomile tea that I bought.

It was only $5.00 for the entire bag. :)) I can assure you that it tastes as good as it looks.  I stopped using milk and in my tea because it tastes so good.

This is one of the favorite blends that I got! :) It's a fruit tea blend that has Rose Hips, Lemongrass, Hibiscus, Peppermint and Orange Peels.  It's sooo good! It tastes like a berry tea with a bit of mint.  It's a great tea for first thin in the morning. There's also a Peppermint White Chocolate Tea that is amazing.  All of them have the most incredible flavor.

I've talked about their tea, they also have spices!  We got a bag of Pickling spices and Sumac. I need to write to you soon to tell you more about foraging and Sumac. :)  Most of the bags that we got were only $5.00 - $7.00.  I really can't recommend them enough.

So why am I sharing all of this with you here? They are located in Truro in Massachusetts but they have an online website!! Atlantic Spice Company.   For those of you that love tea and spices I hope that you love them as much as I do!! They do free shipping on orders that are more than $50.00 or $7.95 shipping for other orders.   You can create an account and make a wish list! I already have. They also have an email list.  Have fun!!!  I'm not an affiliate and I make no money on what you purchase. I just think that they are an absolute treasure for anyone who loves spices and tea.

Much Love and Many Blessings,

An Exercise in Self-Love

An essential part of healing and journeying along our path is learning to love ourselves.   I wanted to give you a simple exercise that you can work with to help you on the path to self-love.   It will help you take a good look at yourself and realize just how amazing you really are!

Find a quiet place where you can be alone for a while.  You will want to choose a place where you can have at least fifteen minutes of quiet time.

Choose your favorite incense and start it so that the scent wafts through the area where you are sitting.  Some of my favorites are lavender and vanilla.  Now that it's fall, I love all the scents that go with it, like pumpkin spice, apples, and cinnamon.

Choose three candles that best represent you.  They can be the color of the month you were born, your favorite colors, or another color that has special meaning for you.

You can put on some soft music if you like.

Get at least a handheld mirror or position yourself in front of a mirror while you do this exercise.

Grab a pen and paper. You may also want to choose a notebook just for this exercise so you can look back on it each time you do it.

Now I want you to sit down, relax, and concentrate on your breathing.  You can use this time to ground and center if you wish.

Now sit down, and I want you to come up with all the positive things about yourself.  It can be personality traits or physical traits.  Really look at yourself and describe what you love.  You want to get at least 20 things.  If you can... go for 50!  It can be done.  If you want to, you can work up to it over a few months.  Really take your time and spend it with yourself.  I promise it will help. I hope that you have a magickal day!

Much Love and Many Blessings,

Jasmeine Moonsong

Ghost Hunting Exercises and Stories

Samhain is approaching quickly, and while I'm not a fan of getting ready for holidays early, I'm sure it is no surprise to all of you that I get excited for this one and often start decorating as soon as September arrives.

As we move into the season, I also find that ghost hunting becomes more popular. It seems to have become a trend even out of season recently, at least where I'm from, but I know it really picks up this time of year. You can find ghost tours in a lot of places this time of year, and in some places they've become so popular that you can find them year-round. I've been on a few and have loved them all.

So what do you need to know? First, the odds of a ghost walking in front of you like you see in the movies are slim to none. Most of you are probably nodding your heads and already know that. I have had the privilege to see almost a full-body apparition. When it happened Keep Reading

Lampadomancy

Lampadomancy

I have always loved old oil lamps. There is something about their energy that is just so calming and enchanting. I have so many of them tucked around my house and yard in various places that I believe will bring a bit of their magickal energy to where they are placed. My favorite lamps are the old railroad lamps. I've had some luck finding them at tag sales in the area.

Lampadomancy is an ancient art of divination using a lamp. Lampadomancy was a very common form of divination in ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia. It was challenging to have candles during those times as they were expensive, so lamps were used more often. The lamps were typically made of a terracotta dish filled with oil. The sides of it were high enough to hold the oil and the flames. They would then place a coiled linen strip that rested in the oil and hung out of the pot to create a wick. Often, the lamps were painted on the outside by someone. They typically used palm oil for their lamps during this time, as olive oil was still expensive. These are very easy to make yourself; however, if you use this type of lamp, I would not leave it unattended.

In the 1800s, lamp divination gained popularity in the United States as kerosene lanterns became common. I have several of these in my house. You can also use Hurricane lanterns.

To do lampodomancy, first formulate a clear question in your mind. Then you want to gaze into the flame of the lamp. Watch the flames and notice how many points it has, in what direction it's blowing, note the color, and the height. When you work with lamps, you want to use the characteristics of the flames to start learning what they mean. For instance, I can use a flame similar to a pendulum. The flame will go up and down to indicate yes, back and forth to indicate no, or in a circular motion if the outcome is unclear at this time. When using the points a flame has, one point would be favorable, two points would be unfavorable. If you happen to see three points, that's a very good sign. If the flame is bent, it can indicate that an illness is coming. If it just goes out completely, that's not a good sign.

Please note that you can also use the flames on a candle. I've had a lot of luck with this as well.

Have a magickal day!

Full Moon Blessings!

“Release your fears and prepare to fly,
blessings you will receive under tonight's sky,
for the Full Moon will shine down on you,
infusing you with courage for all that you must do.

Give thanks tonight on this the Harvest Moon,
for all the gifts received and dreams coming true soon
Remember you have the power to make the changes in your life,
it is in your hands to walk a path free of strife.

So gather the courage coming your way
and make sure you take at least one step each day
toward the dreams that you wish to come true
and the freedom to fly will come to you.

Welcome to our September Full Moon!!   Full Moon Blessings! Our Full Moon this month is known as the Harvest Moon as we are in the middle of the harvest season. For those of you that celebrate the Wheel of the Year, Mabon on the 22nd of this month is our second harvest and Samhain in October is the third and final harvest. You may also see this Moon referred to as the Corn Moon for the corn that is typically harvested around now.  In my area I am starting to see the squashes and pumpkins coming in. Just the other day we stopped at a little farm stand and bought a couple of small pumpkins, some tomatoes and a Patty Pan squash.  Earl made it into a Patty Pan pizza for me by slicing the squash into flat rounds and topping it with sauce, tomato, basil and a bit of Cheddar and Monteray Jack cheese.  It was soooo good! I want to go back and get more!  Our deck garden is still doing good and blessing us with herbs and tomatoes.  What more could I want! :)

Here in New England I'm already starting to see some of the leaves starting to turn.  The deep emerald greens are starting to pick up a bit of yellow.  In some areas I can see the reds and oranges getting ready to make their appearance. The Autumn Equinox is just a few weeks away and I can feel it as the mornings and evenings are starting to get cooler.  We are starting to be able to have our windows open more and the cats are thrilled.  I love this time of year.  The clear blue skies and the cool crisp air makes most days so beautiful to be outside here.  I wish I could freeze this weather and have it like this all year!

For all the information on the Full Blood Moon and Total Lunar Eclipse, a Ritual to help you to overcome fear and gain confidence and more, join me on Moonsong Daily Magick!!

Full Moon Readings and Eclipse Season Journey Readings are available on the shop now!!

Have an amazingly magickal day and a Blessed Full Moon!

Welcome September!!

Welcome to September!!! I took the photo above at one of my favorite places, Old Sturbridge Village. When I think of September in New England this is definitely one of my favorite places to be! I love walking the village and watching the trees change color paired with the smells that are just so distinctly New England. It's no secret that I am a New England Witch and I love this time of year. Fall in New England is gorgeous!! Something about Autumn leaves, crisp apples, cool air and bright blue skies just seems to enhance the energy of New England. I find this especially true with the old seacoast towns. For this reason and so many more, September has always been my favorite month here in New England. Once again I can open the windows at night and let that fresh air in and the house just smells amazing. It's the perfect time of year to go for a walk as it's incredibly beautiful out and just the best temperature. While we haven't quite reached Autumn yet, it is coming soon!! Many of you know that our Autumn Equinox is on the 22nd of the month and it is also Mabon our second harvest of the year as well as the beginning of the Season of the Witch!! I have Mabon and Autumn Equinox Readings on the shop waiting for you.

Many of you know that we are currently in Eclipse Season. It kicked off with our New Moon in Virgo last weekend and it will conclude with our second New Moon in Virgo this month on the 22nd! Yes! It is on the Autumn Equinox! We have some great energy this month. This upcoming weekend on Sunday we celebrate our Full Moon and Total Lunar Eclipse. I missed having the Full Moon and a total lunar eclipse on my birthday by one day! So close! I'm really excited about this month and I hope all of you are as well! If you haven't booked your Full Moon reading it's available on the shop! You can also combine it with the Eclipse Season Tarot Reading for a special bonus.

Let's take a look at what's coming our way this month.

September 1 - Celtic Tree month of Hazel ends

September 2- Celtic Tree month of the Vine starts.

September 7 - Full Moon and Total Lunar Eclipse

September 17 - Bewitched began in 1974

The Energy Vibrations in the World Around You

Everything in the world is made up of energy. Some people are more sensitive to that energy than others. If you can take that energy that you are picking up on and turn it into usable information, that is what will make you a gifted intuitive. You will find that you can be more sensitive to some energy types than others. For instance, if you are an empath, you can not only sense the emotions of others, but your body will actually allow you to feel what they are feeling, helping you interpret that energy. I can sense the energy from the past. If I walk into a place, I can often tell you what happened there simply by feeling different emotions and seeing visions. When I read the cards for you, I am tapping into your energy to do that. If you want to develop your sensitivity to energy, the best way to do that is to work with it.

As you move through life, pay attention to the energy around you and how you respond to it. You may find that you can feel it in your body, maybe your fingertips tingle, maybe your stomach sends you signals. Pay attention to how it makes you feel. Do you feel fear all of a sudden or anxiety, or perhaps you are somewhere peaceful and calm? If your moods change rapidly, it may have something to do with where you are. The more you observe yourself in different situations and understand how you respond, the better you will be able to do in the future to interpret what you are getting from the energy around you.

Visiting places like old cemeteries or historical sites is a fantastic way to start. Try to choose places that are easier at first and away from a lot of people. It will help you isolate what you are picking up on. When I started working on my skills, I used to look for cellar holes in the woods. They are a great place to start by trying to sense the energy of whoever used to live on that particular area of land. You can do the same if you can tell where old property lines used to be in the woods. Another way to do it is to pick a single residence and see what you can pick up on, or maybe one specific object. If you walk into a place like an antique store, you may find that you are picking up things all over the place, but it may be hard to separate what it is that you are picking up on.

For those of you who live with furbabies, try to feel the energy from your furbaby. :) This is a fun exercise that many of you will find is easy and that you will be good at. It's another wonderful starting place. Be patient with yourself and try all different things. Keep a notebook of what you are sensing and when. In time, you will learn how you are able to feel energy and eventually be able to start interpreting it.

I hope you have an amazingly magickal day!

Much Love and Many Blessings,

Jasmeine Moonsong

Welcome to Eclipse Season!

Eclipse Season Has Begun!!

With the New Moon in Virgo over the weekend we kicked off Eclipse Season. It opened the lunar cycle that contains the a total Full Moon Lunar Eclipse on September 7th and a second New Moon in Virgo with a partial Solar Eclipse on September 21st. I love that we kicked it off with a special Black Moon with our New Moon in Virgo on Saturday. The Black Moon occurs when we have a season with four new moons in it instead of three. This is why we have two New Moons in Virgo in a row. It only happens every 33 months so keep an eye out for the number three around you! I released a special Black Moon and the Power of Three Tarot Reading. If you didn't get a chance to book it yet, I may have it available on the shop for you until the end of today. ;) It will help you to understand what energy you are kicking off this month with and the new lunar season.

Let's start with what an Eclipse Season is. Eclipse season happens roughly every six months. They typically contain a New Moon Eclipse and Full Moon Eclipse, although once in awhile you will find that you have three Eclipses in Eclipse Season. According to the Farmer's Almanac that's incredibly rare. The last time it happened was in the year 2000 and it won't happen again until 2026. (Farmer's Almanac, 2025). The first eclipse you will experience this eclipse season is the Full Blood Moon on September 7th. This Full Moon will be a total eclipse. The Full Moon gets the name Blood Moon because of the red glow it appears to have caused by the shadow cast by the Earth as it moves in between the Sun and the Moon. We will complete the Eclipse Season with a partial solar eclipse with our second New Moon in Virgo on September on September 22nd. A Solar eclipse is caused by the Moon blocking the Sun from view. All of this is leading us right into the Season of the Witch that begins with Mabon and the Autumn Equinox on September 22nd!

Eclipse season always brings important shifting energy and energy of change. I love that this one has such strong Virgo energy kicking it off. I always find that the energy of Virgo can help bring order to chaos. It can help you to spot those details that help you to put pieces of puzzles that you've been working on together. While there's going to be a lot of movement in the coming weeks you may also find that it's easier to navigate as things may be more clear for you if you've been working with the energy that has been coming your way.

For those of you who are intuitive, buckle up because it's going to be a bumpy ride. Know that your intuition is going to be on overdrive trying to process and make sense of everything happening. This is an important time to make sure that you are staying caught up on energy maintenance. Remember to ground and center. Most important... just simply stop and breathe. Take extra time to notice where you may be storing tension in your body and do what you can to relax. It may be busy.. it may be crazy.. but know that with energy of change also comes so much potential. Remember that you don't have to wait for change to find you. This is also a great time to make changes that you want to see in your life. There's a lot of important energy waiting for you in the upcoming weeks! Make sure that you don't miss anything!!

Today I am opening the Eclipse Season Tarot Reading. It's available for you on the shop now! I also have released the September Full Moon Lunar Eclipse Reading!! You can get a combination reading for a discount on the Full Moon Reading. I am closing the Black Moon Power of Three Reading tonight at midnight.

Have an amazingly magickal day!

Much Love and Many Blessings,

Jasmeine Moonsong

The Mute Swan and the Swan Song

I love reading and listening to stories. It's part of why I love working at the library. Earl loves reading mythology, and he often shares the most amazing stories with me. Lately, he's been reading a lot of Greek Mythology. The other day, he told me the story of the mute swan, and I wanted to share it with all of you today.

Many of you are undoubtedly familiar with Apollo, the son of Zeus, as the Sun God. Some of you may have even heard the stories about his golden chariot and how he is responsible for pulling the sun across the sky.  He had a son named Phaeton who was a chariot driver.  He was constantly asking Apollo to drive the Golden Chariot.  After winning an important race he decided to cash in a favor from his father to prove that he was the greatest chariot driver and capable of driving the Golden Chariot.  While Apollo didn't want to let him do it, he gave his son the reins.  Phaeton grabbed the reins and began his journey by driving it too close to the Earth, forming Africa.  He then drove it too high and froze the North and South Poles.  He was unable to gain control of the chariot, and Zeus made the decision to take him out of the sky with a lightning bolt.  This unfortunately killed Phaeton.  He had a close friend or lover, Cygnus of Leguria, who was devastated by the loss of Phaeton and was wailing, making a horrible noise.  Unable to listen to the noise any more, Apollo turned Cygnus into a swan.

There is a swan named for Cygnus called the Cygnus Swan, or mute swan. It is known for making no noise in its lifetime with the exception of just before its death. This became known as the swan song.  This is the myth that has been carried forward.  Upon looking into mute swans, they do make a series of noises in their life, mainly grunts and trumpeting noises. According to Wikipedia, they do not make a noise upon dying.  However, the Whooper Swan or Cygnus cygnus does let out a call upon its death as the air moves out of its lungs.  Peter Pallas believes that this swan may have contributed to the legend.

I hope that you have an amazingly magickal day!

Much Love and Many Blessings,

Welcome to Your August New Moon!!! Blessings for the Black Moon!

The New Moon occurs at 2:06 EST early in the morning on the 23rd or 11:06 p.m. on the evening of the 21st, if you are one of my friends located on the West Coast. This is why you may see conflicting dates for the New Moon between the 22nd and the 23rd. Your location in the world will determine what date it falls on for you. All of the information for the New Moon will be going out in Moonsong Daily Magick tomorrow, on the 22nd. If you aren't a member there is still time to sign up!! This includes a special spell for you to work with. If you are a Patreon member you have access to that spell today!

How many of you have been hearing this New Moon referred to as a Black Moon? Does anyone know what that means? It's not really an official term, but it has become quite the buzzword through the years. It's the third new moon in a season that will have four new moons in it. Typically, a season will only have three new moons, but every once in a while, things fall so that we have an extra one. So this makes the third new moon the black moon, and it typically only happens every 33 months. Noticing all those threes? It's part of why I had you work with the number three in the spell today! The number three has been coming up a lot for me lately and I definitely can feel its influence with this New Moon! I have a special tarot reading that works with the number three if you are interested and have been seeing it around you as well. It's only available for three days! You can book it here: Black Moon - The Power of Three Tarot Reading

I have special August New Moon Readings Open!! If you haven't ordered yours, tomorrow will be the last day to order them. I also put them on sale for you this weekend. At the time I'm writing this I still have a few New Moon Tarot Messages to be delivered between the 22nd and 23rd for the New Moon. These are the two-card readings. You can find them here: New Moon Tarot Message.

Have an amazingly magickal day and a Blessed New Moon!

Alphabet Divination

I am someone who loves divination, and I love exploring new divination tools and methods of divination.  Today I have a simple one for you.  How many of you have heard of Alphabet Divination? This divination method reminds me of the game Scrabble.  It just occurred to me that you could use Scrabble tiles to do this!  First, let me teach you the technique I was taught many years ago.

You can begin by writing down all the letters of the alphabet several times on paper.  Tear the pieces of paper into equal-sized shapes.  You can also write the letters on pebbles or small bits of wood.  Ideally, you want to ensure you have at least four sets of a complete alphabet.  It's also preferable for them to be all the same size and texture if you can.

When you have your collection of letters, take all of them and put them into a jar. Many of you know that I love Mason Jars, and many of you will find that it is likely perfect for this.  However, if you don't have a mason jar or would prefer something different, you can use a bag or another tightly sealed container.  You want to ensure that whatever container you choose gives you room to shake up all the letters thoroughly.

Now it's time to work with your new divination tool.  Think of a question in your mind that you want answered. Then, shake them up!!

Open the jar and let the letters spill onto the table or floor.  Without touching them, look for words within the tiles that will answer your questions. You may need to do some interpretation, as you may only see one word in the letters.  Some of you may not even find that, and you may find yourself searching for letters that resemble a word.  Use your intuition.  Remember that a divination tool is something to help aid your intuition.  Once you see the word or words, you want to figure out how they help answer your question.  Good luck!!   Have an amazingly magickal day!

Much Love and Many Blessings,

A Look Behind the Scenes: Creating Tarot Readings

I have been writing tarot readings for over twenty years now. The time has gone by so fast and it's hard to believe that I've been doing this for so long!

I started tarot a long time ago by taking a class simply because I was interested in it.  It was at a shop not too far from my house that had all different classes and I was particularly excited about taking the class. That class led to several workshops with her and my certification.  One of the classes that really stands out in my mind is a class that she gave me a deck of abstract cards and told me to read it.  I remember panicking and her telling me that I could do it.  I was pretty excited when I was able to get accurate readings using that deck.  You see, what I learned was that tarot cards are just a divination tool to help you to access your intuition.

Fast forward several years and I opened my business! One of the things that I wanted to do was to design original readings.  Everyone can do the standard readings. I wanted to design readings that were fun and that hopefully spoke to those of you that I read for.  For those of you who get my newsletters you will notice how there are different themed readings that come out all the time. I am behind all of those. So how does that happen?

There have been countless times that I will just "get" a reading.  It happened the other day with The Midnight Garden Tarot Reading. I was in the middle of a reading and I just saw the reading.  I did paused the reading on to go and write that reading. It's energy was just so strong.  I also love that the person I was reading for at the time was the first person to purchase that reading.  That isn't the first time it has happened!

I will also design reading to fit what I feel are needs that people have. I have always offered Custom Tarot Readings and if I find I'm getting similar requests frequently enough I will open up a new reading.

I also get requests to design specific readings.  There are several readings that I have designed for people that are on the shop. When I think that they will help others I will make them available.  Several of the readings in my Healing/Energy Tarot Readings section of my shop were created that way.

Of course I also have all the special readings throughout the year that come follow the Wheel of the Year as well as the Moon phases.  Some of them come back each year by tradition, others vary slightly by the year. If you are looking for those you can find them in the New/Limited Edition section of my shop.

Creating readings is something that I love to do and I hope that I get the opportunity to create more readings for you for a long time!! Thank you so much to all of you who purchase my readings and allow me to do what I love with all of you!

I hope that you have an amazingly magickal day!

Much Love and Many Blessings,

So many of you provide so much light for others in life.  You know who you are.  In order for you to shine at your brightest, it’s important that you know what lights you up.  Think about this today.  What makes you happy? What really lights up your soul?   Here are a few things that I enjoy to get you started:

– I love daisies!! They always make me smile.
– Snuggles with my loved ones, there’s no place I’d rather be.
– I love the purr of a happy kitty on my lap, especially Loki.
– Fireflies in fields that look like there are thousands of blinking stars.
– I adore twilight.  It’s so pretty! Those pinks and purples that melt into that gorgeous blue.
– The Full Moon lighting up the world below.
– That big grin on a child’s face when they are over the moon happy.
– I can’t help but giggle when I hear that contagious laughter of a baby.
– Sitting on the beach, watching the waves of the ocean come and go, while I dig my toes in the sand.
– A walk in the woods just after it has rained.  The smell is just amazing
– Curling up with a really good book that makes me forget where I am.
– The smell of a fresh basil or lavender.  Both scents are so relaxing to me.
– Have you ever found that perfect vanilla ice cream? It’s that one that’s the perfect level of sweet and just soooo yummy.

These are just a few of my favorite things.

Think about what lights you up today.  Make a list and find some place that you can keep it safe in your home.  On days that your light may be a bit dim and you need a pick me up, take out your list and choose something from it for yourself.  You deserve it!

Much Love and Many Blessings,

Witch Crafts: Make a Quill Pen

How many of you keep a Book of Shadows to collect information that you learn on your path for your craft?  Something that I love about a Book of Shadows is all of the different things that you can do to personalize it and make it more magickal.   One thing that you can do is to choose a magickal writing tool. This can be a fancy pen you decide is perfect for your Book of Shadows.  You may also find that you want to try a quill pen. You can go to a shop to get one, or you may find that you want to try your hand at making one, and that’s why I’m here with you today.  Are you ready to give it a try?

The first thing you want to do is choose a feather you want to use for your Quill pen. Keep in mind that it is illegal to have feathers in several areas, so you want to make sure that you check the laws in your area.  They can also be tricky to sanitize and clean.  You can put them in a plastic bag and freeze them for 24 hours, then wash them in a gentle solution of warm, soapy water.  The trick is getting them back to the shape you found them in.  Sometimes, steam can be helpful with that.  Keep in mind that many new age shops and some craft stores also have feathers that are already legal and clean! šŸ™‚ That can be an easy win situation.  When you choose the feather, look for one that is relatively large and feels comfortable in your hand, as you will use it to write with.  You want to make sure that the tip of the feather, the part you will write with, is long enough, as you will hold it in your hand to write with.  You may want to bring home several feathers to experiment with.

When you get the feather home, you want to use a knife to cut it at a 45-degree angle. Craft knives are easiest for this; however, I’ve been able to do it with a sharp kitchen knife.  Once you have the feather cut at an angle on the tip, use tweezers and/or a pin to clean out the inside of the feather. This is the part where the ink will go in.  You want to score the center of the cut feather to help move the ink. Don’t forget to get a pot of ink! When you are all set,  try writing with it.  When you find one you love, you can consecrate it and store it with your Book of Shadows.

Have an amazingly magickal day!

The Magick of Bubbles

How many of you loved playing with bubbles as a child? I still love them as an adult. I have always thought they were just so pretty with their rainbow of colors swirling about getting carried away by the wind. One of my favorite things was when we would make a huge bucket of bubbles using soap. I would then try to make all different types of bubbles using whatever toys I could find. When my children were young I actually had a sand and water table that I would make bubbles in for them frequently. It was a flat plastic box essentially and I would give them all sorts of things to make bubbles with like string, cups, straws and other fun shapes. The possibilities are endless and honestly I think most of the fun is in finding what is around and experimenting with it! Don’t forget to have fun chasing them as well!

If you’ve never made bubbles before you can just add dish soap to some water. Swish it around until you start seeing lots of bubbles. To help the bubbles you can add a bit of glycerin to the mix. It will help them to be stronger so that they last longer. You can make it in a small container if you just want a little bit of mix up a big pail of it. It’s all up to you in what you want to do. You can also just grab a small container of bubbles from the store! As always do what calls to your soul. It’s more about having fun with the bubbles than their creation.

As an adult witch I still find bubbles to be quite magickal. Know that you can blow bubbles and when you send them out into the wind send them with your wishes. This is similar to wishing on a star. It’s something so simple but so powerful. Keep you energy moving with the bubble as long as the bubble lasts. Then you can do it again and again if you want. I’ve also come to see bubbles as signs in recent years. Earl gave me the idea for this article last night and then as I was getting ready for bed a tiny bubble came off the soap and lasted incredibly long slowly floating around me. It was incredibly mesmerizing and reinforced that I should come here and talk to you about bubbles today! I hope you have fun making bubbles and making those wishes. If you have little witchlets in your life it can be fun to teach them how to make bubbles and even how to wish upon those bubbles. I hope that you have an amazingly magickal day!

The Quokka as Your Spirit Animal

Is everyone smiling? Perfect!! What better way to start a day than with one of the cutest animals I think I have ever seen?!  I was introduced to the Quokka today with a children's book that was returned to me at the library. As soon as I saw the picture, I was smiling, and I dove into the book to learn more about where I could find this animal!

For those of you who live with me here in the United States, it will likely be some time before we get to see one, as they are native to Australia. I know I have a few of you with me on Moonsong Daily Magick from Australia! If you have any pictures, I would love to see them!! Remember, never get too close to the animals!

I love the picture I chose for the head of the article—it's just so cute! However,  I wanted to get another picture for you that showed them a bit better. I have never seen one in person, but I would love to! I also wouldn't mind spending time on whatever beach they are on in this picture!

According to Wikipedia, they are about 5 - 12 pounds in size or about the size of a cat. :)  You can tell by how they are sitting, a bit like a kangaroo, that they are from the macropod family.  They have pouches like the Kangaroo. The females can give birth to a baby called a joey about every six months.  The baby will live in the pouch for about six months.  Unlike a kangaroo, they can climb a bit.  Not the big trees, but they can go up some of the smaller ones.

Unfortunately, their population has been declining, so they are considered threatened. They are herbivores and depend upon hiding for survival. Climate change has been having a tough impact on their population, with damage from wildfires and increasing heat making it harder for them to find places to eat and to hide.

Let's look at how they can help you as a spirit animal.  They are known for looking like they have a smile, and that has an impact on their energy.  Just as when someone smiles at you it can make you smile and bring you positive energy, the Quokka can do the same.  They are curious animals and tend to bounce around in their movement, so you will find that when you work with them as a spirit animal, they can boost your energy and spirit. You will find that they may make you notice things more, especially things that make you want to explore more.  They work hard to adapt to whatever situations life brings and can help you with this as well.  Many of you will find them a great spirit animal to work with!

I hope that you have an amazingly magickal day!

Perseids Meteor Shower

The first meteor shower that I remember watching was the Perseids Meteor Shower.  It was such an exciting night as I watched the most beautiful streaks of pink and green go across the sky.  They instantly take me back to childhood nights staring up at the sky, hoping to catch a glimpse of a shooting star to wish on.  It’s something I don’t think I will ever get tired of.  It’s so exciting to see shooting stars and meteors in the sky.  The Perseids Meteor Shower is now something that I look forward to trying to see every year.

The Perseids meteor shower happens every year in the Summer, mainly in August.  It usually peaks around mid-August. They are available for viewing the entire month of August.  If you can, you want to try to see them at their peak. This year, the peak will be on August 12 – 13th. After that, they tend to start dropping in how frequently they occur.  It’s best to see them in areas of low light pollution, and a clear night makes it a lot easier to see.  This year, the peak is very close to our August Full Moon, making it more difficult to see depending on when you are trying to view the meteor shower. The Moon provides a lot of light in the night sky, as you know. Hopefully, we will all still have a good chance to see some.

The Swift-Tuttle comet is what gives us our Perseids Meteor Shower.  Comets orbit around the sun.  When they get close to the sun, it can melt some of their surface, resulting in the comet releasing dust and rock.  These are usually small and burn up in our atmosphere, but they make a beautiful show for us in the sky to watch! They make these beautiful streaks that seem to glow, not unlike a shooting star.  They can be in varying colors.

The Perseids Meteor Shower was named that because it originates near the Perseus Constellation in the sky.  To find the Perseids meteor shower, you want to locate the Perseus constellation.  You will find it in the Northeastern part of the sky in the Northern Hemisphere. The picture above is what it looks like.   I’ve circled four stars that are the brightest in the constellation. If you are in an area of light pollution, they can help you locate the constellation.

The Perseus constellation was named for the demigod Perseus.  He is the son of Zeus and the mortal  DanaĆ«.  You may be familiar with the story of him killing Medusa. The name Perseids comes from the word Perseides in Greek mythology, meaning the descendants of Perseus.  Earl told me that he read a story that said the meteors are the mortal descendants of Perseus flashing in and out of existence.  I hope you get to see them!

The Magick of Linseed Oil

bout a week ago, our town came through to “oil” the roads. I’m not sure what they use, but it smells like linseed oil, and I love the smell.

I’m familiar with linseed oil because of Earl. It’s an oil used in woodworking to help preserve things. For instance, we have a wooden swing out next to our pond, which he uses linseed oil on each year to help extend the life of the bench. If you have wooden objects outside or crafts, it’s a great way to help extend their life, and it smells incredible! You will have to let me know what you think if you use it!  I know people will use it for wooden cutting boards. If you do this, you need to make sure that you have food-safe linseed oil.

Linseed oil is made from the seeds of the flax plant. You may also see it called flaxseed oil for this reason.  I think the flax plant has the most beautiful flowers.  While they are often blue, there are also varieties of the plant that have white, yellow, or red flowers, depending on the variety of flax.  You can see an example of the flowers in the picture I chose for the article. The seeds from the flax plant are pressed to make a liquid oil that can be clear to pale yellow in color.

Linseed oil has a long, rich history of being used in a variety of ways.  If you enjoy oil painting, linseed oil is often used as the carrier oil for your paints. The seeds from the flax plant that make the linseed oil can also be used to make linen, and you may find that the canvas you use to paint is made from the flax plant as well.  Egyptians used it linseed oil for embalming and the linen to wrap their mummies.  They found flax seeds near Otzi the The Ice Man.

Flax has been associated with healing and protective energy. Some believe it can help improve your intuition and spiritual awareness.  Being that it has a long and rich history you may also find that it can help you to connect with your ancestors.

Have an amazingly magickal day!

Energy Trinket Storage

As I go on many adventures in life, I like to bring back various small trinkets to remember these events.  I try not to choose anything too large as I don’t have a lot of room.  It may be a small stone, shell, twig, ticket stub, or something else that is small and easy to keep in a jar.  When I pick the item up, I hold it in my hands and envision the energy of the place in that object.  When I bring it home, I put it in a jar or somewhere else I find special that I want to keep it in. When I see it again and hold it, it helps me recall the energy of the place I’ve visited.

You can store objects with similar energy together if you want. Many of you know that I adore Mason Jars.  I have a jar of sea glass that we have gathered at various beaches.  I will store this glass together as the energy is similar on most of the glass.  I try to choose pieces that are distinct so that I will recognize them.  I also have mason jars of stones from various places that we have gone to.  If it is from some very special place, I will often find special homes in the house, like windowsills, counters, or other areas where it will be decorative.

I find it fun, and it’s a nice way to keep memories and the energy from those memories with you.

Have a magickal day!
