Living
in Massachusetts and loving the ocean it makes a lot of sense that I've
spent a day or two in Salem. Not as many as I would like that is for
sure! However I have spent many happy days wandering this old New
England port and I always love the time that I get to spend there.
Many of you are likely familiar with the picture of the House of Seven
Gables Above. I've been lucky enough to tour the house on one of my
visits there. The grounds are gorgeous!
My favorite place to visit is Derby Wharf. I'll let you in on a little
secret. :) When the tide is low like it is in this picture, you can find
sea glass and bits of pottery along the dock. Laurie Cabot's Enchanted
Shop is just a stone's throw away from here.
Another favorite destination is Wynott Wands. If you are a Harry Potter fan you will love this wand shop!
I also had the amazing opportunity to stay at the Hawthorne Hotel!! It's
gorgeous and such an amazing part of the history of the town. I can
also definitely confirm that it's haunted!! If you are interested about
hearing about my experiences there you can read that here: The Haunted Elevator
One of my favorite experiences was the opportunity that I had to work to
read tarot for Laurie Cabot. That's right! Instead of having her read
for me I was selected to read for her. I wanted the experience of
taking a class with her as I have looked up to her since I was little. I
have a story about writing to her when I was just 10 years old! You can
read about it here: The Littlest Witch.
When an opportunity to take a tarot class with her came up I jumped at
the chance even though I had been reading professionally for over ten
years at that point.
The class was really amazing and I definitely enjoyed every minute of
it. Part of the class involved reading for others and they called on a
number of members of the Cabot Temple and other friends to have us read
for them as well as reading for each other. Based on these readings
they selected a couple of people to read for Laurie. Words cannot
describe the moment when I was waiting to see if I was one of them and
the camera turned on and she was sitting across from me. This was a
class that we did online. I had 20 minutes to spend with her and read
the cards. It was incredible! She was amazing and I loved the time that
I spent with her. In that class I was taught the reading that they
use in the Salem shops, The Tarot of the Witch.
It's the reading on my shop that I'm the most proud of and I'm so
excited to offer it to you during the Season of the Witch!! If you can't
make it to Salem this year, you can still get a reading with a tarot
reader that was trained by Laurie Cabot.
If you are ever able to visit Salem I highly encourage it. It's a
beautiful old New England shipping town. Wandering the old narrow roads
with houses from the early 1700's and 1800's is always something that I
love. Then of course there are all the museums and shops! The Peabody
Essex Museum is a great museum and one that you don't want to miss as
well. I encourage you to go during all the seasons. October can be fun
but really busy. Early September would honestly be my pick.
Everything is still gorgeous and a lot of the tourists from Summer are
gone and it's before the October rush.
I hope that you have an amazingly magickal day!
Much Love and Many Blessings,
