Blessings of Imbolc and Goddess Brigid's Day!
Tomorrow we celebrate Imbolc and the Feast of the Goddess Brigid.  I'm bringing you everything today because tomorrow is also our February Full Moon and the first of the month.  All the information for the first of the month and what to expect in February will come to you on the second! It's going to be a busy few days with information for you! 

It's time to celebrate the turning the Wheel of the Year again.  At Imbolc we celebrate that the Earth is getting ready for Spring to return and the return of our light.  Some of you may be starting to see signs of life stirring and perhaps even the first snow drops coming up through the snow.  Here is Massachusetts I find that the snowdrops usually start coming up a bit closer to the end of February.  Our Spring Equinox and the official return of Spring is  on March 20th this year. Where I live it's really too cold right now this year and we have too much snow.  Hopefully the temperature will shift soon and the snow will melt.  Even if you don't have any flowers starting to come up yet, right now we can enjoy the days getting longer. I know where I live we are enjoying that the sun is finally setting after 5:00 again.  Some of those winter days can seem quite long when it's dark before we can get dinner on the table. I'm definitely looking forward to Daylight Savings time on March 8th this year. I always love having the sun set an hour later.  

Today we celebrate that energy that is stirring deep inside the Earth as flowers and new life get ready to greet us. As the Earth prepares for new beginnings so should we.  Start thinking about what you want as you move through the year.  What energetic seeds are you getting ready to plant?  For those of you who have gardens you may be getting ready to plant some seeds for the Spring now. We will be starting to get our seedlings going here soon! I always find it so exciting to start planning for our Summer deck garden. I miss it during the cold months. Remember that when you plant seeds you can also plant the energy of your desires. It's always great to incorporate a little energy work with your day to day activities where you can.

We are also celebrating our Goddess Brigid today.  What I love about the Goddess Brigid is she is the Goddess of creativity and inspiration.  She encourages you to learn and explore the world around you.  She brings you creative energy to assist you in your life and inspire you.  For those of you who love art or are artists you will notice that you are drawn to create over the next few days.  Honor that by painting or drawing something this weekend or participating in any other art form of your choice.

In Kildare, Ireland they still celebrate this amazing Goddess today. The fires dedicated to her were originally attended by nineteen priestesses.  Today they are attended by nineteen nuns. If you are wanting to learn more about the Goddess Brigid I have an article for you here: The Goddess Brigid.

Working with the Owl as Your Spirit Animal

 

The other day I created a special reading to help you to connect with the Owl as Your Spirit Animal called the Wisdom of the Owl Tarot Reading.  When I went to share the reading with all of you I wanted to pair it with an article about the Owl for you.  For some reason, I can’t seem to find one even though I really thought I wrote to you about the owl before.  It may just be information that I’ve been giving out in tarot readings through the years that I’m thinking of.

I started working with the Owl almost ten years ago now.  I thought I could feel the presence of the owl around me but I asked for confirmation. I always love looking for that extra validation.  Within a day we were out for a drive and there she was on the side of the road.  We pulled over and I stood there about ten feet from her just staring.  It was my first experience seeing one so close and it was as if she could see deep into my soul.  It’s one of those memories that I will never forget.  I saw her not far from my house.  A couple of months after that the weather warmed and I started hearing two of them at night calling to each other in the park across the street from my home.  We walk out there a lot and on one of those walks, I came almost face to face with the owl again.  She was just off the path sitting on a low branch.  So incredible.  Last Summer they were in our yard one night and I stood at the window for the longest time. On that night we thought there might have been four of them.  I still love hearing them at night and seeing them on occasion.  It’s a spirit animal that I’ve found to be quite generous with the signs and one that I’ve really enjoyed working with.

Owls often come to those who are intuitive, especially empaths.  I find that they are drawn to their gentle nature and often are wonderful allies in helping those that they are working to strengthen their intuition.  The owl is quite good at seeing into the unknown.  As you likely know they are most active at night and they can see better at night as well.  As a spirit animal, the owl helps you to see beyond what is immediately apparent to you.  They can also help you to work with things that you may have in the shadows.  When the owl appears to you they may be letting you know that you need to get ready to go on an adventure into the unknown.  They will often work to bring you information on the paths that you are following and the options that are available to you. They can help teach you to be more in tune with the small signs around you that help to give you information that will be useful in your life.

Owls love the night.  To work on your connection with the owl find a time at night that you can go out and listen.  You can ask them to come to you. If you don’t hear them or see them don’t get discouraged.  It doesn’t mean that they aren’t working with you.  Sometimes they are one of the harder spirit animals to find.  You can carry a picture of an owl to help connect you to their energy.

Winter Simmer Pots

 

 

Winter Simmer Pots

One of the things I love about winter is making meals that make the house smell amazing. On days when I don't have time to cook or don't want to, I also love using simmer pots. Simmer Pots are incredibly simple, and there are so many different things that you can do with them. A simmer pot is a pot of your choice filled with water and other ingredients, which you can gently simmer on the stove to make your home smell amazing. I also love mini crockpots for this, if you have one. It can help to add some humidity to your home if your air is dry from running the heat. You add the ingredients to the pot, put it on low, and you can top it off with more water as needed or desired. If you have a wood stove, this is also amazing. When we burned with a wood stove, I would keep a cast-iron pot on top, filled with water and other goodies. So what do you want to add? Here are some of my favorites to help boost that warm energy in winter! You can mix and match them however you want, depending on the scent or energy that you are looking for.

All Spice (the dried berries, not the seasoning mix) - Brings energy of prosperity, energy, and luck. It can help you find things you are passionate about and increase your passion in your life.

Bay Leaves - Bay leaves attract some of the best energy, love, abundance and wealth. It is said that they will bring good fortune your way.

Cinnamon - For this, I love cinnamon sticks. Cinnamon is known for bringing energy of prosperity, abundance, and good fortune. It is also great for protection and helping to reduce negative energy.

Cranberries - They make the simmer pot look so pretty! They also bring energy of love and passion. What's not to like?

Cloves (whole if you can) - This is another wonderful spice that brings energy of protection and prosperity. It can also bring energy that helps with love.

Evergreen - Some evergreen trees smell so amazing. If you find a branch that has come down during a storm, there is a good chance it will make your house smell amazing. Give it a try!

Nutmeg-Attracts energy of money, abundance, and happiness. It is another spice that is also good for protection. A lot of my favorite herbs and spices in winter are great for energy and protection.

Orange - One of my favorites any time of year. It brings bright, positive, and uplifting energy to the home. It can help elevate happiness and inspiration.

Rosemary - Brings strong energy of cleansing and protection. Rosemary is not one of my favorites, but I know so many people who love it that I wanted to be sure to include it. It is a great herb to work with for clarity, remembrance, and/or connections to those on the other side.

Vanilla Extract - Warm and comforting, I always love the smell of vanilla. It brings the energy of love, making you feel more relaxed and settled. It can also help bring clarity through relaxation. I personally love vanilla and cinnamon together. :)

These are just a few of my favorite ingredients that you can combine however you like. Most of them make excellent tea as well! (not the evergreen) I hope you enjoy making simmer pots with them and they warm up the last half of winter for you!

Happy Saturday! Snow!!!

 

How many of you are getting snow tomorrow? While the forecast keeps on changing it seems that we are looking at getting at least a foot to a foot and a half where I am! It should be interesting. They cancelled school for Monday on Friday. I don't know if I've ever seen that happen.  So I'm working at the library today and then planning to snuggle down for the rest of the weekend and likely through Monday! The picture above is from a bit of snow we got the other day that wasn't in the forecast. It caught us all by surprise.  It was super wet snow so it stuck to everything. It was really beautiful!

Ready to Work with the Goddess Brigid?

 

The Goddess Brigid

At Imbolc we celebrate the return of the light and the coming of Spring.  This traditional Gaelic festival is often celebrated on the second of February and is meant to celebrate the end of winter and the warming days.  It also is dedicated to the Goddess Brigid. The Goddess Brigid is a member of the Tuatha Dé Danann, the daughter of the Dagda and wife of Bres. As the Earth begins to stir beneath our feet with the promise of life soon to return, we turn to the Celtic Goddess of Spring. A triple-Moon Goddess, she is associated with wisdom, poetry, healing, protection, blacksmithing, and domesticated animals. During Imbolc she is often seen as the maiden and honored as the bride of the Sabbat.

There are many spellings and variations of her name to include Brighid, Brid, Brighid, Brigit, and Bride, among others.  Something interesting is that while the spelling may differ, she keeps the same name as the Maiden, Mother and Crone.  She is known as the Goddess of the Flame and the Sun.  This association came from the story that when she was born at sunrise, a tower of flame burst from her forehead.  Her name is from the Celtic brig or "exalted one." It is thought that her mother is Morrigan, another Celtic triple Mother Goddess. Her son is Ruadan.

If you love the arts Brigid is an amazing Goddess to work with as the is the Goddess of poetry, crafting, and the arts.  She is known for her assistance in energy to do with the hearth and the home. She also oversees childbirth, and time of birth. In Kildare Ireland, she was honored with a sacred flame that was maintained by a group of priestesses. In Kildare you will also find several sacred wells, which many are connected to Brigid as she is also known as the Goddess of Wells and Water. Brigid is a Goddess of Inspiration. Her primary symbols include fire, flames, the hearth, water, grain and a white swan.

Brigid was worshiped and loved by many. When the Celts were being converted to Christianity, the Church realized they would have to include Brigid as she was loved by so many. In Christianity she became Brigid the Saint. The church claims that she was the foster mother of Jesus Christ. They stated that she was the daughter of a druid who predicted Christianity and that she was baptized by Saint Patrick. When the Catholics took over, her Shrine in Kaldare was converted. They replaced the priestesses with nuns, a tradition held to this day. They still tend to the fire burning just as the priestesses had in ancient times.

One of the things that I love about the Goddess Brigid is that she is also known as a protective Warrior Goddess.  She has this beautiful nurturing and protective energy that reminds me of a Mother.  You may call on her for help with protection or security as well.

Brigantia, Shining Queen of Heaven,
You, our Maiden, Mother and Crone,
You are earth-children's own.
From Green Isle to distant shore,
Far flung, your tales have spread.They tried, but your fire would not die; 
eternal be the flame of Lady Bride.
Inspire us with your wisdom.

Welcome to Aquarius Season

 

On January 20th, we begin the Season of Aquarius and will remain in it until around February 18th.  While those of you born under the sign of Aquarius may be closer aligned with the energy of this season and feel its impact a bit more intensely, you will find that all of us will be influenced by the energy that it's bringing our way. 

This Aquarius season, you will find powerful energy of transformation that makes you feel a bit restless and will likely make you want to make changes in your life. You may even find yourself doing a bit of early Spring cleaning! You may find that you are agitated or annoyed at things that you may feel are holding you back or not moving the way you want them to go.  These are the things that you want to watch for, as they are the things that you are meant to be working with.  Aquarius is a powerful air sign that will have you looking at things in a new light and likely seeing things from new perspectives.  Be open to that energy. 

The energy during this time will have you looking at your life and how you fit into all the things going on around you.  It may have you wanting to push out into new areas in life following that energy of expansion that the New Moon brought for us. This season has some excellent energy of hopes and dreams, and I always encourage you to make time to work with that. It's a great time for working in the arts or spending some extra time journaling.  Take part in additional activities that help you connect with yourself, your intuition, and what you are thinking and feeling.

The symbol for Aquarius is the water bearer. The Water Bearer is the mystical figure that brings healing energy, water, and life to the world.  This is a great time to work with healing energy in your life and connecting to your energy of life.  This energy will also help you to go with the flow and navigate the energy of change around you.

Because of the familiar image associated with Aquarius and aqua at the beginning of the name, most people believe the element associated with Aquarius is water. Many of you may be surprised to learn that the element associated with Aquarius is Air. Aquarius brings you the energy that makes you think.  It can help you figure out plans to work on in your life and make sure that they align with visions of your future.  It will spark your curiosity and create a desire to dig deeper for knowledge.  It also will make you want to feel free and free-spirited, and if anything is holding you back from that, you will find your attention is drawn to it now.

The ruling planet for Aquarius is Uranus.  Uranus helps you with technology and finding new ways to incorporate technology into your life to help you find more success and advance towards things that you want.  It brings you energy that is meant to help you find more progress and success in your life.

During the Aquarius season, look for the color Aqua Blue. It will bring you energy to help you go with the flow and find that freedom you will desire.  It helps bring calming and creative energy, making it easier to express yourself.  You will find that this is also a great time to work with your intuition, as Aquarius corresponds to your Third Eye Chakra. New Moon Blessings!

Welcome to the first New Moon of 2026!!! How has 2026 been going for you? Have you been working with that energy of endings and new beginnings that I've been talking to you about? You should find that you've been finishing up some things that are making room for some new things to start happening in your life.  This New Moon is going to start the first full lunar cycle of 2026 for you and I do believe many of you are going to really enjoy the energy that it is bringing your way.

While we have been moving at an incredibly fast pace you are going to find that the New Moon is bringing energy that is going to help slow things down and calm things down a bit.  I think all of us could use a bit of time to slow down and breathe right?  This is going to give you an opportunity to look at all the changes that you've been making in your life.  You want to spend a bit of extra time cleansing your personal energy and the energy of your home.  In doing that it will help to make sure that you are ready to see all the new energy moving around you and the potential within that energy.

For some of you, there is some big energy coming your way for some powerful new beginnings.  Make sure that you are slowing down so you can see them! Some of you are going to find yourself making some major changes in your life.  You should find that these changes align more closely with who you are and what you want.  This is a great lunar cycle to work on new changes that you want to see in your life.  Some of you may find that you are working on some pretty huge things like moving to a new home or starting a new career.  There's the potential for some big moves with this energy.  Take things at a pace that is comfortable for you and make sure that you are looking closely at everything that you need to.  When dealing with important contracts or legal issues make sure that you are checking and double checking them. It may be worth digging into reading that fine print! 

In the free time that you have, look for quiet and time to turn inward and to reflect upon things that you are thinking and feeling.  This is a great lunar cycle for learning about yourself, trying new things and exploring new things that call to you.  Imbolc is just a couple of short weeks away and you are going to find that it adds to this beautiful new energy with the promise of new beginnings of life stirring beneath the Earth's surface. This is a great time to plant seeds for the new beginnings that you wish to see in your life.

Look for things that you can do with your hands.  It's a great time to try pottery or sculpting if you never have. The Sun brings us positive energy and clarity and you will find that it can be quite helpful to spend a bit of time working with this energy today. It’s a powerful day for healing and taking some time to reset your energy. Time spent in meditation or in quiet thought can help to bring you clarity. It’s a good day to look at what you have coming up in the coming days and to make plans for the things that you want to do and how to make them happen. If you are working with energy today it’s a great day to spend some extra time cleansing, grounding, shielding or working with healing energy.
