Welcome to October and to the first day of the Countdown to Samhain!! What better way to start if off than a pumpkin with a kitten! Seriously.  Doesn't he just make you so ready for October? 

It's no secret that cats are one of the most popular familars for the witch.  Perhaps we will get into that on a different day right? I was drawn to this little kitten and the pumpkin that he's sitting on that is just waiting for you to carve in honor of your ancestors.  

We have entered the Season of the Witch and the energy around you will be stirring with endings and new beginnings all month.  Things that you set in motion with the new moon will start bubbling in the cauldron with the first of three full super moons that we will close out 2025 with.  We have great energy coming our way and if you embrace the energy of change shifting around you this season and remember to create a bit of magick you are going to find some great things waiting for you. 

Today we start the Countdown to Samhain on Moonsong Daily Magick.  Are you ready???  I have a spooktacular month planned here for you on Moonsong Daily Magick. This entire month we are going to be looking at things to do with Samhain and Halloween from  Samhain traditions to ghost stories, tricks and treats, fun crafts, recipes, history and anything else that I come across that I think you will enjoy. 

Many of you know October best for the celebration of Halloween and Samhain. Samhain is a beautiful time to celebrate our ancestors and those who have crossed to the other side before us.  It's also a time to release things in our life that we need to let go of in order to make room for new energy with our Witch's New Year. 

As we enter the dark half of the year, you will find that the veil is at its thinnest, and communication with the other side is strongest now.  For those of you who are gifted intuitives I have a special reading on the shop meant to help you with time of year called Across the Veil: Your Intuitive Gifts. This is a great time to focus on your connections with spirit and loved ones on the side and your intuitive gifts. The Full Harvest Moon is on the 6th of October. The Harvest Moon is the Full Moon that is closest to our Autumn Equinox. It typically falls in September but this year it's in the first week of October. I love the Harvest Moon as you will find it's energy can be very powerful, yet very grounding at the same time. The Harvest Moon puts the focus on what we are currently harvesting in our lives. This is a really important time of year to know where you stand before the final harvest of Samhain and the end of this year and the beginning of our Witch's New Year. This is an extra special Harvest Moon as it is the first of three consecutive super moons that will help us to finish out 2025!   I have an extra special Harvest Moon Reading on the shop waiting for you.

Our New Moon this month is on the 21st.  It's going to bring us a refreshing burst of new energy as we navigate our way through the second half of the month and head towards the event that we are all excited about... Samhain and Halloween on the 31st.  Then we go on to celebrate our Witch's New Year starting at midnight on the 31st and moving into November 1st. On November 1st many of us also celebrate the Day of the Dead.  I absolutely love October.

If you are working with magick today choose to work with energy that has to do with communication, expressing yourself or divination. Today is a great day to work with Amethyst, Citrine or Agate.

Today our Moon is Waxing, Second Quarter with 60% visibility. We are currently in the Second Quarter of the Moon known as the Waxing Gibbous Moon. This is the phase of the Moon that is just before our Full Moon. This is a good time to start getting ready for the energy of the Full Moon. Start looking at things that you’ve been working on growing and make any adjustments that you may need to. Give attention to those details that you may find bring the things that you are working on extra success. As the Moon gains in illumination you may also find that it helps to illuminate things that you need to change in your life. You may find that it helps you to see changes that may be coming up on your path and it may help you to get ready for that. Give extra attention to things that are calling your attention during this time. You will likely find that there are reasons that you feel called towards them. If you are working with energy it’s a great time to work with energy that has to do with reaching your goals and finding success in things that you are working on. It’s also a great time to work with energy that helps you to connect with yourself and improve your intuition.
